Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Who is eligible for the All Army Sports Program?
A:
Active Duty, National Guard, and Army Reserve personnel are authorized to apply for All Army Sports. National Guard and Reserve must complete additional forms to initiate activation and submit them to the appropriate sports POC for the sport. National Guard and Reservists will be activated for the duration of the selection. You have to be at an actual duty assignment in order to apply.

Q: How do I apply for All Army Sports?
A:
Apply online at https://apps.imcom.army.mil/apptracmain Log on with your AKO logon info and password. To apply you will need such information as your commander's name, phone number, and AKO email address. You will also need to know the date that you most recently took the Level 1 Anti-Terrorism Training. This training must have been taken so that it will not expire prior to the conclusion of all travel associated with the sport for which you are applying. Renew the training at https://atlevel1.dtic.mil/at/ if needed.

Q: If selected will I receive PCS orders or change my MOS?
A:
This is a SHORT TERM TDY opportunity (1-3 months depending on the sport and your selection for higher competitions). This is NOT a change in MOS opportunity.

Q: When are applications due?
A:
In order to be considered for the first/primary selections for a Trial Camp, your application should have processed through all approvals (Commander and Garrison Sports Director) prior to the deadline noted. If you are not on an installation, your application will skip the Garrison Sports Director and proceed to the Army Sports Office. Specific deadline dates are listed on the sports calendar for each sport.

Q: Can I send additional paperwork with my application?
A:
Yes. You can attach your supporting documents within your application. You can also fax the pertinent information to the Sports Specialist who is the POC for your sport or email it to: usarmy.jbsa.imcom-hq.mbx.army-sports@mail.mil

Q: What sports are included in the All Army Sports Program?
A:
All sports listed on the All Army Sports calendar
are being offered. No additional sports are being looked at to be added at the present time.

Q: My sport is not listed, can it be added?

A: The inventory of sports is determined by 1) what is being offered at a significant number of installations to identify athletes for higher competitions and 2) participation from the other services. We cannot have an Armed Forces competition if the other services do not participate. The higher level competitions are the cream of the crops that represent their service so it's hard to get Soldier-Athletes at that level for some sports. You can talk to your garrison sports director to see if they know of opportunities at their level or off-post. No additional sports are being looked at to be added at the present time.

Q: My commander did not receive my application to approve?
A:
Your commander will not receive your actual application to approve but an email with instructions on how to go into the same website you applied in. If your commander did not receive an email, please verify your commander's name and AKO email address is correct. If it is not correct, they will not be able to access your application. If it is correct, here is the information for your commander:

To approve/disapprove your Soldier's participate, please login to https://apps.imcom.army.mil/apptracmain (using your AKO user name and password). Click on "COs/Sports Dir Review & Approve Applications". Be sure that you use your AKO user name and password NOT your installation user name and password or you will not be able to access the application.

Q: My application states "Awaiting Commander's Approval" what does this mean?
A:

Your commander has to approve your participation before your application can be considered. Please ensure your commander's name and AKO email address is correct or they will not be able to access your application.

Q: What if a Commander needs a Soldier back early from the Army Trial Camp or higher level competitions?

A: If the Commander needs a Soldier back early, the Army Sports Office will make travel arrangements to have the Soldier back within 24 hours.

Q: When will I be notified to "Try Out"?
A:
Selections will be made to attend Trial Camp from the information provided in the applications and contacting references, this is NOT a Try Out opportunity. Soldiers must be in peak physical condition to compete immediately. As the Trial Camp proceeds "cuts" will be made to get down to the final roster to represent the Army in the Armed Forces Championships. From the Armed Forces Championships, an all star team will be selected to participate in either a national or international competition.

Q: What happens if I am selected to an All Army Trial Camp?
A:
Army Sports generates a selection message and sends it through each Region to the Garrison Sports Directors. Army Sports will contact all personnel not on an Army installation. Army Sports arranges for airline travel for most athletes. The Garrison Sports Office will prepare a DD1610 for your travel to the Trial Camp and sends it to Army Sports for funding approval. Army Sports will prepare DD1610 for all personnel not on an Army installation. This DD Form 1610 is required prior to your airline ticket being funded for travel. All lodging costs will be paid for by the host installation. Local transportation will be provided. The Project Officer will pay you a “Daily Allowance” equal to the current Government Meal Rate plus the current “Incidentals” rate” if the event is located on a military installation. If not, additional “Daily allowance” will be paid. Meal card holders should request through their commander for Seperate Rations prior to departing their unit.

Q: What do I need to bring to Trial Camp?
A:
You are required to bring your personal training equipment for your respective sport. For example: Soccer - cleats, shin-guards, gloves…etc. Toiletries, prescription medication, and limited civilian clothing should be brought. Two pairs of black slacks/trousers with black/brown dress closed-toed shoes will be required dress code for social events. You will be issued training apparel at the Trial Camp.

Q: Can I participate in a Trial Camp if I am on leave?
A:
No, participation on leave status is prohibited.

Q: Can I participate while on Terminal Leave status?
A:
No, you have to be able to be in Federal Active Duty Title 10 status in order to participate.

Q: Can I take leave enroute?
A:
Soldiers must obtain Commander's approval for leave prior to departing unit duty station (except for emergency situations). Leave is only authorized after all competition is complete. Leave in conjunction with this event must be stated in the remarks section of the Soldier's travel orders.

Q: What regulation governs All Army Sports?
A:
AR 215-1 governs the All Army Sports Program.

Q: What if my question is not answered here?
